INDUSTRY.co.id -New York - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said Indonesia offered training to prospective UN peacekeeping personnel to ensure standardization to maintain peace as well as to promote peace.
"We offer training for prospective peacekeepers before serving, and we have a training ground and experience," Vice President Jusuf Kalla said on the sidelines of attending the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday (20/09/2017). )
The Vice President further explained that peacekeeping forces sometimes only maintain the status quo, so there are countries that conflict until decades can not be completed. The vice president pointed out what happened in Lebanon and African countries where the conflict lasted for tens of years can not be resolved.
"So the peacekeeping troops are not only guarding but also how to pursue peace itself. Indonesia has experience about this and this is the advantage we offer" said the vice president.
Jusuf Kalla led the delegation of the Republic of Indonesia in a high-level meeting at the 72nd UN General Assembly at United Nations United Nations Headquarters of New York. In the 72nd UN High School Indonesia continued to campaign to be accepted as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2019-2020. (Ant)
