INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Marine Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan claimed to have proposed to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to immediately fix the SOEs. One of the solutions offered to President Jokowi is to restructure or sell state-owned enterprises.
He dares to say it is related to the domination of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in the domestic economy.
According to Luhut, one of the causes of SOE domination in the domestic economy is the number of SOEs and its subsidiaries that have been too many and large. Count Luhut, currently the number of SOEs and subsidiaries of SOEs reaches about 700 companies.
"I told the President, this is not healthy," he said on Tuesday (26/09/2017).
Previously, the World Bank also criticized the domination of SOEs in Indonesia. The World Bank says the Indonesian government should not put state-owned enterprises directly in private. The government should encourage greater private role in development.
