INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - As a step to start the digitalization awareness movement of the construction world in Indonesia, PT PP Tbk (PTPP) held PP International Conference Digital Construction Day 2017 under the theme "Build Before Construct".
"We consider the need for a transformation into the era of digital construction as applied by some developed countries, one of which is applying the concept of Building information Modeling (BIM)," said PTPP President Director Tumiyana in Jakarta, Wednesday (4/10/2017) .
He said the current business world experiencing disruption era where startup companies can subvert the company that has long been established.
The disruption era is driven by the development of the digital world, the construction sector is one sector that will definitely be affected by digital transformation. However, digital adoption in the construction sector is much slower than that of other sectors.
"The efficiency of cost and productivity, quality improvement and accuracy of time always be a challenge from year to year in the field of construction," he said.
Tumiyana added, as one of the leading construction and investment companies in Indonesia PTPP always conduct studies and research to overcome the problems above.
The BIM is a set of technologies, processes, policies that the whole process runs in a collaborative and integrated in a digital model.
Explicitly, it is translated as a three-dimensional image where all the elements in the picture can have data related to their quantity, price and schedule (BIM 5D). In addition, enabling actors involved in a project to work in collaboration.
"With the implementation of BIM this will make a very significant efficiency in terms of cost and time of project implementation, because the design data (pre-construction) becomes very detailed and accurate," said Tumiyana.
