President Jokowi Emphasizes the Importance of Regional Synergies

INDUSTRY.co.id - Vietnam - Starting a series of activities in Vietnam, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Friday (10/11/2017) afternoon local time, attended two meetings of APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Dialogue and Informal Leaders Meeting of APEC and ASEAN Leaders, in Furama Resort, Da Nang.

At the Informal Meeting of APEC and ASEAN Leaders, President Jokowi stressed the importance of building synergy between ASEAN and APEC, which Indonesia is also the founder of both organizations.

"We are the founders of both. Therefore we are concerned that on the one hand we play a role in shaping how ASEAN and APEC are, but at the same time that its development should contribute to us nationally," said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs A.M. Fachir who came down to accompany President Jokowi in the meeting initiated by the Vietnamese.

In particular, President Jokowi said that the synergy should be presented in a number of cooperation in various fields, such as in e-commerce, human resource development, and synergy between RCAP (Regional Cooperation in Asia Pacific) and FTAAP (Free Trade Area of ​​Asia Pacific) .

"Need to rely more on domestic market intra-region, so do not always depend on other region," said A.M. Fachir quoted President Jokowi as saying.

Synergy presented by President Jokowi, said Fachir, received appreciation and positive views from a number of country leaders, one of them Australia.
