INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Former Chairman of Golkar Jusuf Kalla admitted giving support to Airlangga Hartarto to become the chairman of Golkar Party through the Extraordinary National Congress (munaslub) to replace Setya Novanto who became the suspect of corruption case of electronic ID card.
"Among all the candidates who appear I think Airlangga is at least a problem, meaning never having to deal with the KPK, the prosecutor's office or anything else is never another matter, so it must be a person who really can be accepted by all parties," said JK at the Deputy Office President, Jakarta, Tuesday (27/11/2017
The statement by JK who is also Vice President, confirmed the comments of Vice Presidential staff and Golkar politician Iskandar Mandji who called Airlangga had gained support from JK and some other senior Golkar politicians.
According to the Vice President, from all party and ethics requirements, Airlangga Hartarto's Minister of Industry is most worthy of being the new Golkar General Assembly.
"My principle is simple, if you want munaslub choose Golkar figures in addition to qualify, the terms that many ever become administrators, at least 5 years, of course good people, and serve the party," said JK to the media crew.
Regarding the position of Airlangga who is still minister of the Working Cabinet, the Vice President said there is no law stating that the minister needs to stop to become party official.
"There is no rule, I used to be the Vice President is also chairman of the party, its okay, Mr. SBY, Mega Mega, the entire party chairman and even a president," he said.
Earlier on Monday (27/11/217), Airlangga Hartarto claimed to have requested and obtained permission from President Joko Widodo to advance as a candidate for Golkar chairman.
