INDUSTRY.co.id - Serang - PT Sokonindo continues its commitment to increase its investment in Indonesia. This is evidenced by the inauguration of a new factory of PT Sokonindo Automobile in Modern Area Cikande, Serang, Banten.
CEO of PT. Sokonindo Automobile, Alexander Barus explains, the initial investment is invested by the company has reached more than USD150 million in 2014 and will increase as the factory and business development.
The new factory of PT Sokonindo Automobile located in Modern Cikande Industrial Park, Serang, Banten stands on 20 hectares of land with the concept of 'Smart Factory'.
"This factory is equipped with robotic facilities, ranging from stamping, welding, painting, assembly to quality control," said Alexander Barus in Serang, Banten (28/11/2017).
The plant is also targeted to employ up to 2,000 direct workers, and around 4,000 to 5,000 jobs are created from vehicle component suppliers to dealer networks.
Alex added that the factory has been completed in May 2017 will supply automotive products to the domestic market.
"As a new brand in Indonesia, our focus is on producing quality vehicles from these highly automated factories, ensuring quality products that are also competitive," he explained.
Glory 508 is the first product produced in Indonesia, type SUV with a capacity of seven passengers. The vehicle previously achieved the highest sales for the 7-seater SUV type in China. Meanwhile, Sokonindo also manufactures commercial vehicles with a pick-up model called SuperCab.
At the same occasion, Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartarto hoped, PT. Sokonindo Automobile can continue to increase investment, innovate technology, increase employment, and involve many local partners in its industrial activities. This effort to improve the competitiveness in domestic and export markets.
"This increase will have a significant impact on the growth of the automotive industry in Indonesia while contributing significantly to the national economy," Airlangga said.
To that end, PT. Sokonindo Automobile is expected to continue to synergize with the government in order to strengthen its product base in Indonesia.
