Go-Jek Officially GetRp 16 Trillion Capital from Google

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Google Inc. has admitted investing in digital transport application provider Go-Jek Indonesia with investment value of Rp 16 trillion or US $ 1, 2 billion. It aims to support and participate in the economic growth of Indonesia.
Through his official Google blog rate, Go-Jek is led by a strong management team and has a positive track record.
"Go-Jek is proven to use technology to make life more comfortable for Indonesians across the country, which enables us to partner with great local champions at a growing startup in Indonesia," wrote Google's Next Billion Users Team VP of Caesar Saengupta on Google's official blog site , Monday, (29/1/2018).
According to him, with more than 133 million people online, Indonesia is home to the world's fifth largest internet user. He added, the people of Indonesia continue to embrace the internet quickly, although half have not connected to the internet.
Indonesia already has a fast growing internet economy. So, Google wants to contribute more in the development of digital economy in Indonesia.
"So to help Indonesians build the next big startup, we have trained nearly 60 thousand people in Indonesia for mobile application development," said Caesar.
He added, by 2020, Google targets to generate 100 thousand new app developers. Furthermore, he said, to help more small businesses in Indonesia that utilize the power of the internet, Google through Gapura Digital took the initiative to train more than 40 thousand small business owners in 10 cities. Going forward, Google will come to more cities in the country.
Not only that, to support all Indonesian people in order to access the information and finish their work, Google keeps working on various products and features with Indonesian people. "Indonesia is the second country to globally get Google Station, which is our product that aims to present high quality public wifi with local partners," explained Caesar.
In fact, he said, Google helped design a special product of the people of Indonesia namely Youtube Go. These products help Indonesians watch their favorite videos despite poor connectivity.
"Finally, Indonesia is also one of the first two countries in the world to get our new application called Google Go," he said.
Caesar said, the application makes searching the internet faster and simpler despite the slow connection. He asserted, by investing in local companies, building relevant local products, and training local talent, Google hopes to see local champions emerge in Indonesia.
