INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Ciputra Group Director, Agus Surja Widjaja, confirms that private developers are able to build residential areas with Transit Oriented Development (TOD) concept as long as the scheme is submitted to market mechanism.

"The government should do what the private sector can not do, instead of the state budget used to inject state-owned enterprises to build property, it is better to save money to build the infrastructure and build the property is left to the private sector," he said.

Even if the government wants to set prices for low-income people (MBR), according to Agus, private developers should be given incentives such as those obtained by SOE developers.

"If the government wants the private sector to build more affordable homes then it should be given incentives such as taxes, incentive in obtaining affordable land, private if there is profit on paper surely cultivated. If development submitted to the private sector development would be faster," said Agus.
