WIKA Business Expansion Build Infrastructure in Afghanistan

"In addition to the benefit of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Afghanistan, the prospects for infrastructure development in Afghanistan will also benefit the company," said WIKA Bintang Perbowo President Director in a press release here on Tuesday (13/3/2018)
Star Confidence that Wika is ready to enter Afghanistan after receiving the business delegation of Afghanistan on Monday (12/3/2018) at Wika Office, Jakarta.
During the visit, the Afghan business delegation was led by the General Director of First Political Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Musa Arefi, who was accompanied by the Indonesian Ambassador to Afghanistan Arief Rachman MD.
At the meeting Wika and Afghan construction company Haji Khalil Construction Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding on the cooperation of infrastructure projects in Afghanistan, between General Manager of the Department of Foreign Affairs Wika Yulianto and President Director Haji Khalil Construction Ltd. Khalil Samar Gul.
Bintang Perbowo said that the meeting opened the opportunity for Wika as an Indonesian SOE to participate in development in Afghanistan.
He explains, Wika is the only ‘BUMN Karya’ which has a business abroad to generate profits without loss.
Wika has also been trusted to build various infrastructure projects in Algeria, Dubai - United Arab Emirates, Jeddah - Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Myanmar to Brunei Darussalam and Timor Leste.
Going forward, the company is beginning to study potential projects, especially in infrastructure and housing that builders use funds from the Afghan government.
Meanwhile, Director General of First Political Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Musa Arefi said that the meeting became a momentum to get to know each other between Wika with Afghanistan and companies from Afghanistan.
"Wika has the capacity and experience to participate in infrastructure development in Afghanistan," Moses said.
For the record, at the end of January 2017 President Joko Widodo made a state visit to Afghanistan to open bilateral cooperation opportunities between the two countries, despite the condition of the country is less conducive to security.
Furthermore, Vice President Jusuf Kalla also visited Afghanistan on a mission to echo peace in the region.
