INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has signed a Government Regulation (PP) related to the import authority of industrial salt.
The new rules will change the authority of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) as a recommender of importing salt to switch to the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution said the signing of the Salt RPP was done on March 15, 2018. The PP was signed yesterday by the President, Darmin said in Jakarta on Friday (16/3/2018).
He explained that the PP will answer the crisis on the recommendation of imported salt originally submitted to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), but on the realization of import recommendation is often different from the calculation of industrial salt requirements under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry.
With the signing of the PP, the calculation of recommended salt imports from what was originally recommended by the CTF was only 1.8 million tons, later it could change according to the Ministry of Industry's recapitalization.
Darmin discloses, with an industry requirement of 3.7 million tons, the salt import recommendation could later grow to around 1.33 million tons. Its implementation means the difference between 3.7 million tons and 2.37 million tons, he said.
Although signed by the President, the implementation of the import recommendation of industrial salt and import permit is still waiting for the decision of the meeting at the level of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.
"The meeting itself can only be done after the official government regulation is enacted," said Darmin.
