Luhut Ensure Import of Industrial Salt Only Until 2021, After That No More Import

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for the Ministry of Marine Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan will control the import of industrial salt until 2021.

"The salt of this industry we control the import until 2021. After that, we should not be imported anymore, because now is the development of salt industry," said Luhut in Jakarta, Monday (19/3/2018).

In addition to control, he continued, the government will also take measures to anticipate the lack of salt for the industry.

As for the steps being built by the government is to do the construction of industrial salt factory.

Currently, the government has built an industrial salt plant in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) which has an area of 26-28 thousand hectares (Ha)

"Industrial salt is controlled by import until 2021. After that we should not import anymore because now we are building a factory for industrial salt, it has been gradually in NTT almost 26.000 or 28.000 hectare," he explained.
