INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Five students of the Institute of Technology (ITS) invented a machine to purify krosok salt (coarse) into the salt industry.
Quoted from the official description PR ITS, Wednesday (08/09/2017), a tool created and shared Imam Ahmadi Nur Syamsul Rizal, Annisa Widowati, Nature Firmansyah, and Rachmat Sandryan was able to purify salt automatically.
Nur said krosok salt purity level remains low and many contain substances that pollute the salt so cannot be used as industrial salt.
"This tool produces a salt with a percentage of impurities only 0.06 percent," said Nur.
Purification of salt lasts for two to three hours with a capacity of 3 kilograms machine.
For the process, salt initially inserted tube, then mixed with water and given chemicals NaOH, Na2CO3, and PAC. The three chemicals will bind dirt.
The result is a net salt on top while the contaminating substance will settle down. Salt solution is then filtered in another tube. Once heated, the salt crystals of the kitchen will be formed.
"If this continues to be developed, then the results of this innovation can be beneficial to farmers and the government of course," said Nur.
