INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Chief of Staff of the President (KSP) Moeldoko stated the meeting of US President Donald Trump and North Korean President Kim Jong Un in Singapore as a step forward for world peace.
Despite the seriousness and follow-up of the US-North Korea meeting, according to Moeldoko, the event is a very historic momentum and President Kim's intention to stop his nuclear program should be respected.
"For a country, what we need to see is the intention," Moeldoko said in Jakarta, Wednesday (06/13/2017)
The meeting has reached the climax that marked the two leaders have issued a joint statement containing four points.
In terms of foreign policy, Moeldoko said, the intention of a country is a thing to be reckoned with, for example, measuring a country's intention to invade another country or an intention for peace.
"When it comes to war, that intention is what we need to recognize," said the retired four-star military general.
He told that when he was active as a TNI Commander, he had attended a meeting in the US.
On that occasion, he was asked that Indonesia participate actively maintain the balance of security due to nuclear enrichment activities on the Korean peninsula.
"As it must be admitted, North Korea's nuclear weapons development has implications on the psychology of its neighbors," Moeldoko said.
After recognizing the intention of a country, continued Moeldoko, the next step is communication.
For example, he told of the tensions that have occurred between Indonesia and Malaysia in terms of border in Kalimantan.
"I remain in line with the government, that Malaysia should dismantle its facilities at the border." On the other hand, as a commander, he also diplomates with the neighboring country's military.
Diplomacy to avoid friction in the future, before there are political decisions of the country, he said, the army should not act alone. (Ant)
