LRT Palembang Ready to Inaugurate President Jokowi Next Month

INDUSTRY.co.id - Palembang- President Joko Widodo is scheduled to inaugurate a light rail transit (LRT) in Palembang, South Sumatra, in mid-July 2018.

South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin in Palembang said on Monday that the President will also inaugurate a rowing track for the 2018 Asian Games in the Jakabaring Palembang sports area.

LRT Palembang is the first in Indonesia, and prepared for the transport of the participants of the Asian Games in August, said the Governor.

The light trains have been tested by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.

According to the Governor, after the Asian Games 2018, LRT Palembang can be used by the community, including as a mass transit that accesses Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang International Airport.

South Sumatra, he said, is ready to host the grand sporting event in Asia.

Governor called on all citizens of South Sumatra to support the implementation of the Asia Games to be successful, for example, by participating in maintaining order and security.
