INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Japanese government invites the Government of Indonesia to be involved in the development of Palestine because the world's largest archipelago country has a lot of experience in helping the country in the Middle East region.

The invitation was presented in Jakarta on Monday (25/6/2018) night by Secretary of Media at Directorate General of Press and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Norio Maruyama.

Indonesia is expected to continue to contribute and share experiences and knowledge to Japan and other countries in Palestinian development on various occasions, said Norio, who is also a spokesman for the Japanese delegation comprised of Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono who is currently in Indonesia at 25 -27 June.

Indonesia will also be involved in the ministerial meeting of the Conference on the Cooperation of East Asian Countries for Development of Palestine (CEAPAD) to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 27 June 2018, Norio said.

Indonesia's involvement in the conference is considered important as it is the country with the largest number of Muslims in Southeast Asia and the world.

In addition, Indonesia also has extensive experience in organizing human resource capacity development programs for Palestinians and various trainings, such as in agriculture, which are useful in improving the welfare of the people of the country in the future.

According to Norio, CEAPAD is a consultation framework in the region launched by Japan in February 2013 to support the development efforts undertaken by the Palestinians towards achieving peace based on a two-state solution.

The conference aims to mobilize resources and experience in the field of economic development of countries in East Asia.

The CEAPAD meeting in Bangkok will be chaired by Japan, Thailand and Palestine, followed by Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei, South Korea, United Nations Agency for Employment and Handling of Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), World Bank and Bank Development of Islam.
