The Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing Targets Nine Dams Completed This Year

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing (PUPR) targets the work of nine dam projects to be completed this year. These nine dams have begun construction since 2014.
The nine projects are Rotiklot Dam in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Tanju Dam, Mila, and Bintang Bano in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). Then Gondang Dam and Logung in Central Java, Sei Gong Dam in Batam, Sindang Heula Dam in Banten, and Paselloreng Dam in South Sulawesi.
Minister PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono said, in the period 2015-2019 the ministry is targeting the construction of 65 dams. The project consists of 49 new dams and 16 dams which are the continuation of previous government projects.
"The construction of dams, embungs and other water resources infrastructure is an effort to achieve water security and food sovereignty which is part of Nawacita President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla," said Basuki, Thursday (28/6/2018)
Currently, the development of Gondang Dam in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, which is being undertaken by the Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing (PUPR) has now reached 82.55%. The dam with a capacity of 9.15 million m3 is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018.
The Gondang dam, built in 2014, will irrigate an area of 4,680 hectares. Most will irrigate agricultural land in Sragen regency and others will flow to Karanganyar regency. "With the water supply from the dam, farmers who previously only once planted a year, will be 2-3 times," said Basuki.
Another benefit is to become a source of raw water with a discharge of 200 liters per second. This raw water can be used for 200,000 people around the community, flood control, micro-hydro power plant with a capacity of 0.2 megawatts, tourist destinations and a conservation area of the Garuda Watershed (DAS). Gondang dam was built at a cost of Rp 657 billion with contractor PT Waskita Karya.
In addition to the Gondang Dam, the Ministry of PUPR Embung Giriroto in Boyolali District, Central Java. The built 1,3 hectare pond with a water storage capacity of 48,000 cubic meters is planned to irrigate 74 hectares of land. Giriroto embung development began in April 2018 and is targeted to be completed by the end of 2018 with a construction cost of Rp 12.14 billion.
From 2015 to 2017, the PUPR Ministry has built 847 embungs in various regions with a budget of Rp 2.44 trillion. This year, the government allocated Rp 658.47 billion to build 108 embungs. There will be additional construction of 133 embungs next year.
In an effort to accelerate the construction of other water embungs and water containers in the village, President Joko Widodo has issued instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2018. In the Inpres the PUPR Minister is assigned to establish planning guidelines, technical specifications, and standard unit price calculations for its construction.
