RI-China Explores Cooperation of Electronic Waste Processing

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta, the Government of Indonesia and China are exploring cooperation in waste management efforts derived from electronic waste or e-waste and persistent organic pollutants (POPs).
The collaboration between these two countries is important because it will support the implementation of Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap.
"One of the strategic steps in the 10 priority roadmap agenda is to accommodate sustainability standards.In addition, the electronics industry is one of the five priority sectors selected to implement the industrial revolution 4.0 in Indonesia," said Head of Research and Development Agency Industry (BPPI) East Ngakan Between in Jakarta, Friday (29/06/2018).
Ngakan said that as a result of his meeting with the Chinese Government Delegation led by the Director General of Foreign Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Ecology and Environmental Protection of China, Chen Liang in Bogor, Wednesday (27/6).
"This is their return visit, after we made a working visit to China in October last year," he explained.
In addition, the event also attended also Assistant Country Director United Nations Development Program (UNDP) China, Wan Yang. While from Indonesia, also attended Director of Performance Assessment of Waste Management of B3 and Non B3 Waste, Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), and Senior Program Manager of UNDP Indonesia, Anton Sri Probiyantono.
According to Ngakan, his side held an official meeting with delegates and stakeholders of both parties. This activity aims to share knowledge and experience both technical and managerial, such as the legal framework and supporting regulations in the management of e-waste and POPs.
"Other activities, visiting the industries of the management of Hazardous Toxic Waste (LB3), namely PT Teknotama Environment Internusa (TLI) and PT Prasadha Pamunah Industrial Waste (PPLi)," Ngakan said.
Through this visit, it is expected to get an overview of green supply chain e-waste management and POPs, ecological design, and comprehensive utilization technology in Indonesia.
"In the end, it is expected that this activity can also be established intensive cooperation and mutual benefit for all parties," said Ngakan.
