INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - "The cost of transporting goods can be cheaper, we encourage the development of infrastructure either to encourage land transportation not only toll roads but also railway." Inter-modal integration becomes important because it will pay the logistics costs, "said Chief Executive Team of the Committee Acceleration of Priority Infrastructure Provision (KPPIP) Wahyu Utomo in West Merdeka Forum (FMB) with the theme of "Toll Integration Support National Logistics System" in Multipurpose Room of Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Jakarta, Monday (2/7/2018).
In addition, according to Wahyu, the development of special economic zones and industries is also built in order to reduce logistics costs.
"We hope that by the end of 2018 various infrastructure projects can be completed in order to affect the logistics cost," Wayu said.
He added that as much as 72% of logistics costs are only for transportation. While the remaining 23% can be for administrative, storage, and warehousing costs. "So transportation or transportation costs are still big portions," he said again.
What if compared with other ASEAN countries? Wahyu replied that Indonesia is still ranked fourth in terms of the magnitude of logistics costs. "Indonesia is still below Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand," he added.
To improve it, the Indonesian government is trying to complete the infrastructure projects that support the national logistics system. "Especially infrastructure projects that support inter-mode transportation, we will try for example rail transport mode to transport logistics directly to the place where the industrial area is located, so the logistics cost is cheaper," he explained.
Also present as FMB 9 speakers are Head of Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Heri Trisaputra Zuna, Head of Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) Bambang Prihartono and Urban Observer Yayat Supriatna.
