INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- The government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to rehabilitate the Ampera Palembang Bridge as part of the periodic handling to maintain the function and safety of the bridge with a budget of Rp17, 7 billion.
"This is a periodic handling, but the timing fit with the Asian Games so there is also artistic arrangement to make it more beautiful, so it does last before and after the agenda," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in his statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (18/7/2018)
He explained that the rehabilitation of the bridge in the form of pylon roof repairs, reinforcement of floor plate structure, bridge frame painting, the addition of high bridge fence, arrangement of sidewalks on the right and left of the bridge equipped with garbage, chairs and garden lights.
"The arrangement of the sidewalk is done up to in front of the Great Mosque of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin located not far from the bridge," said Basuki.
In addition, the artistic aspects of the bridge are also enhanced by installing analog clocks weighing about 200 kg with a diameter of 5.5 meters placed on the bridge tower, both on the downstream and upstream sides.
It will add to the beauty of Palembang City which together with Jakarta will be the host city of the 18th Asian Games this year.
Ampera bridge has a uniqueness because the middle span can be lifted for vessel traffic, although this time it is no longer functioned.
Ministry of Public Works (PUPR) through the National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) VI (South Sumatra - Babel and Lampung) Directorate General of Highways targets for pavement structuring, clocking and painting to be completed by the end of July 2018.
Thus the condition was neat as the contingent of sports from various countries arrived in Palembang.
As for the repair of pylon roof and bridge floor reinforcement will be done after the 18th Asian Games.
The rehabilitation of the Ampera Bridge will be completed in November 2018 with the contractor of PT Ricky Kencana Sukses Mandiri.
Ampera Bridge built in 1962 and completed in 1965 has a length of 1177 meters and 22 meters wide.
The Ampera Bridge has become an icon of the City of Miners and is an attraction for foreign and domestic tourists.
