Baznas Semen Padang Distributes Rp1.05 Billion Scholarships

INDUSTRY.co.id - Padang - Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) Baznas Semen Padang distributes 2018/2019 school year scholarships worth Rp1.05 billion to 1,382 recipients from various levels of education.
Chairman of the UPZ Baznas Semen Padang Oktoweri in Padang, Monday at the symbolic handover ceremony said the scholarship to enter school is a routine activity given to those who have the right to receive each new school year.
"Use the funds given to pay the children's school fees, not for other needs that are not related to education," he said.
While Semen Padang Chief Executive Officer of UPZ Baznas Muhammad Arif said the scholarship handover was an educational care program that was incorporated into several categories, namely regular scholarships, incidental scholarships, routine assistance for educational institutions, incidental institutions, scholarships to enter new school years, and capacity building for teachers Teacher TPQ / TQA.
He mentioned that elementary school students received scholarships amounting to Rp. 300,000, junior high school Rp. 500 thousand, high school Rp. 700 thousand, and universities of Rp. 1 million to Rp. 2 million.
He conveyed the recipients of the scholarship to enter the school were mostly new recipients and hoped to be put to good use.
One of the parents of a scholarship recipient, Darmianti said that scholarship assistance was enough to help the education of her children who were in junior high school.
"With a husband who is only a traveling motorcycle taxi driver, we doubt that he will be able to send his children to college. With the help from PT Semen Padang UPZ, I hope to help with the education funds for my child," he said.
Head of the Padang City Education Office Barlius, who was present at the handover ceremony, thanked Semen Padang for playing a role in developing the world of education by awarding scholarships.
The representative of the central Baznas represented by Faisal Qasim also hopes that more and more people will be helped through zakat funds so that educated generations are born who can continue their education to tertiary institutions.
