Making Indonesia 4.0, Industrial Area with 5G Connectivity

Menteri Perindustrian Airlangga Hartarto menyampaikan, pihaknya tengah mendorong pembangunan infrastruktur digital seperti peningkatan jaringan internet menjadi 5G untuk kawasan industri.
INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - In the Road Map of Making Indonesia 4.0, one of the targets for facing the fourth generation industrial revolution is to make a breakthrough by utilizing the latest technological developments.
Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto said that his office was pushing for the development of digital infrastructure such as an increase in the internet network to 5G for industrial estates.
"This effort is expected to cultivate the innovation ecosystem made by manufacturers located within the region especially in the era of industrial revolution 4.0," Airlangga Hartato said in a statement to INDUSTRY.co.id, Tuesday (24/7).
According to Minister Airlangga, currently Kemenperin has coordinated with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to realize the conetivity in the industrial area. "This partnership provides connectivity in industrial areas. We can use the Palapa Ring infrastructure which is an optical fiber-based network for 5G networks, "explained the Minister of Industry.
Further Airlangga, for industrial area managers who want to be used as a pilot project in the implementation of 5G internat network, they can apply to Kemenperin. "This technology is being prepared, the prototype will be launched at the Asian Games," he said.
The Minister of Industry is optimistic that the implementation of 4.0 industries will also create an inclusive or comprehensive economic growth as it can touch the small and medium industries (IKM) as the majority sector of the industrial population in Indonesia.
"We are formulating a digital environment to improve IKM growth in the country. We also identified several SMEs already utilizing the marketplace, such as food and beverage, jewelry, cosmetics, fashion and handicraft sectors, "he explained while explaining the existence of IKM e-Smart platform to accommodate small and medium industry players.
