INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Indonesians are asked not to be emotional in responding to the conflict and humanitarian crisis experienced by Rohingyas in Myanmar.
"Emotional actions like the throwing of a Molotov cocktail at the Burmese Embassy Office in Jakarta are unnecessary. This kind of action will only aggravate the situation and not solve the problem and better peaceful rallies or fund-raising actions to help ethnic Rohingyas" said member of the PKB Fraction of the House of Representatives Neng Eem Marhamah Zulfa Hiz to the media crew of Jakarta, Tuesday (05/09/2017)
According to Neng Eem, the responsive attitude of the Indonesian government which has taken various steps related to the Rohingya conflict including sending Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi to Myanmar, must be fully supported.
Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives assesses that the conflict in Myanmar is quite complex and so far the persuasive approach done by the Government of Indonesia has proved quite successful in establishing communication with the Government of Myanmar to find the best solution for the Rohingyas there.
"Currently what is needed from the people of Indonesia is political support and humanitarian solidarity for the Government of Myanmar to solve this ethnic Rohingya problem properly," she said.
According to her as fellow Muslims it is natural that the people of Indonesia provide political, economic, and humanitarian support for Rohingya ethnic to get the right to live a decent life.
Therefore Neng Eem agreed with the proposal of Chairman of PKB Muhaimin Iskandar to do fundraising to help Rohingya ethnic who now fled in some countries.
"Tens of thousands of Rohingyas are now in refugee camps and they are in dire need of economic assistance, especially for the fulfillment of their basic needs," she said.
She also stressed that the Government of Indonesia should be able to negotiate with the Government of Myanmar for the Rohingya conflict to continue.
According to her, Indonesia as a country with the largest Muslim population in the world, its role is very important, especially geographically neighboring Myanmar.
Therefore, she considered these two strategic aspects should be utilized to resolve the conflict that has been going on since tens of years.
