INDUSTRY.co.id - New York - Vice President M Jusuf Kalla said Indonesia and the Organization of Islamic Conference countries agreed to issue a joint communiqué so that Myanmar immediately stop violence against Rohingyas.
"So the OIC countries agreed to issue a joint communiqué urging Myanmar to stop the violence immediately," Vice President M Jusuf Kalla said after attending a closed-door meeting of member states of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) on the sidelines of the annual United Nations annual session York, United States, Tuesday (19/09/2017).
The Vice President further explained that the OIC and the UN can only exert political pressure on Myanmar to immediately stop the violence. In the closed-door meeting of the OIC countries, the Vice President added, also agreed to jointly assist Rohingya from the humanitarian side by providing assistance.
"We (OIC) agreed together to help the Rohingya refugees and of course Indonesia has a role because only we are allowed by the government of Myanmar," said the Vice President. (Ant)
