INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (Persero) targets to channel natural gas to industrial areas throughout the archipelago.
"The natural gas supply in this industrial area is our effort to realize the energy conversion program to natural gas, efficient, environmentally friendly and safe natural gas utilization proved successful in promoting the competitiveness of the national industrial sector," said PGN Commercial Director Danny Praditya in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/11/2017)
PGN's natural gas distribution performance improved during Q3 / 2017 by 17 percent compared to Q2 / 2017. "The increase is contributed by the increase in gas consumption from both the industrial sector and the electricity sector," Danny said.
One of the efforts to boost natural gas consumption, PGN is expanding its natural gas network to Cikande Modern Industrial Estate, Serang, Banten. The area managed by PT Modernland Realty Tbk has become one of the potential markets because of the total land of 3,175 hectares; about 30 percent has been developed.
In it stands over 200 companies both local and multinational. Industry types also vary, including food and beverage companies, chemical industry, heavy equipment industry, and building materials.
Danny said that besides Cikande, PGN has also supplied natural gas to an industrial estate managed by PT Nusantama Properta Panbil in Batam, Riau Islands. "Its use as a fuel for gas power plant in Panbil Industrial Estate in Batam," Danny said as quoted by Antara.
Danny said that PGN's natural gas supply to Panbil Industrial Estate in Batam will take place over the next 10 years, in the form of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
In the meantime, PGN together with Nusantama Properta Panbil have agreed to fulfill the gas requirement in industrial area and tourism area that will be developed in Riau Islands Province.
Going forward, PGN will continue to cooperate with other industrial estate managers in the utilization of natural gas. Moreover, according to Danny, the increase in new investment and business expansion in Indonesia, not only in Banten and Riau, is in line with PGN's efforts to continue to boost the development of natural gas infrastructure.
Meanwhile, PGN Area Tangerang has built and managed the distribution network of 260 km of natural gas pipelines. PGN is also in the process of finalizing the construction of the CP3B Cikande-Bitung project pipeline to deliver gas to the East Banten network.
"This network is a continuation of the CP3A Bojonegara-Cikande which has been in operation since 2012 and is the continuation of the South Sumatera - West Java or SSWJ pipeline project," said Danny.
