Expansion, Hyundai Will Build Truck and Bus Factory in Karawang

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) signed a cooperation agreement with PT Artha Mobil Indonesia (AMI) to build an automotive factory in the field of commercial vehicle trucks & buses in the country. The signing was done by Iki Wibowo, President Director of PT AMI and Lee In Cheol, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company) at Wisma KBRI Seoul, South Korea, Tuesday (12/12/2017).
Iki Wibowo said, from the cooperation will be born Xcient and Mighty Truck type products with a capacity of 2,000 units per year in the early stages.
Hyundai and PT AMI plant will be built in Artha Industrial Hill (AIH), Karawang, West Java. Facilities built in the form of assembly vehicle (assembly vehicle), quality control and track testing (fast track).
AIH is chosen because of its strategic location and has good facilities and infrastructure.
He added that the cooperation is very important for Indonesia because HMC is one of the 5th largest auto industry in the world. In the early stages, the industry will absorb 500 workers.
"With this cooperation is expected to increase the growth of the automotive industry in Indonesia and further strengthen the cooperation between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of South Korea, especially in the economic field," he explained
