Indonesia, Thailand Sign MoU on Health Sector, Focusing on Global Capacity, Collaboration

INDUSTRY.co.id - As a part of President Prabowo Subianto’s official visit to Thailand, both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on health sector, in an effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The signing took place at the Government House, Bangkok, Monday (05/19), and was witnessed by President Prabowo and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Sinawatra.
The MoU signed was the Memorandum of Understanding on health cooperation between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Public Health of the Kingdom of Thailand. The MoU was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Sugiono, and the Minister of Public Health of Thailand, Somsak Thepsuthin.
After the signing, President Prabowo stated that cooperation in health sector is an important part of strengthening mutual capacity, especially in facing future global challenges such as potential new pandemics.
“We have just witnessed the signing of MoU on health sector to increase both countries’ cooperation and capacity. This cooperation is important in facing the possibility of new pandemic outbreaks,” President Prabowo said in a joint press statement with PM Paetongtarn after the MoU signing.
Both countries are also committed to enhancing development cooperation through collaboration between the Indonesian Aid and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency.
On the same occasion, PM Paetongtarn warmly welcomed the signing of the MoU. PM Paetongtarn emphasized Thailand’s readiness to strengthen partnerships in health and social sectors with Indonesia.
“Thailand will enhance cooperation in education, health, and social sectors (with Indonesia). Moreover, as a member of the Global Health Group, Thailand already cooperates with Indonesia in the international cooperation frameworks, and we are ready to cooperate on health issues with Indonesia,” PM Paetongtarn said.
The signing of this MoU is a concrete step in encouraging inter-agency cooperation between the two countries, strengthening the national health system resilience, and addressing cross-country challenges collaboratively and sustainably.
