INDUSTRY.co.id - Semarang - Vice President Jusuf Kalla quipped Setya Novanto as a bad accountant and not a member of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IAI).

"A good accountant will grow the country, but there are also poor accountants, like the most wanted person this week, and it looks sick, as well as an accountant, but I'm sure he's not your member," the Vice President said in a keynote address to the Seminar in Framework IAI 60th Anniversary in Semarang, Central Java, Thursday (14/12/2017)

The satire was addressed to Setya Novanto who has an accounting education background from Widya Mandala University Surabaya, who is now a suspect of corruption of electronic ID card and has undergone the first trial on Wednesday (13/12).

In the first trial, Setnov admitted ill diarrhea and refused to answer when asked for his identity.

"I asked Mr. Mardiasmo if he was your member, he said no, so I think if you are a good accountant, IAI members will be included," said JK who applauded the IAI members.

In the keynote address, the Vice President emphasized that accountant profession becomes the key in maintaining transparency and financial evaluation so that accountants are expected not only to find fault, but also to fix the solution not to happen again.

"Do not get to get the WTP (Fair without Exception), using all the way, but must be with a straight path, 'shirotol mustaqim' from accountants," he said.

The commemoration of the 60th anniversary of IAI was also attended by Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, Minister of Research and Technology Higher Mohammad Nasir, Chairman of BPK Moermahadi Soerja Djanegara, and Chairman of the National Board of IAI Mardiasmo.

The 60th Anniversary of the IAI anniversary was also attended by the President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Rachel Grimes and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo. (Ant)
