2017, There are 300 Millions Registered Domain Names

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - VeriSign, Inc. a global leader in the Internet domain name and security industry on Friday announced that there are an additional 1.3 million domain names registered on the internet in the second quarter of 2017.

Thus, the total registered domain names reach approximately 331.9 million of the total top-level domain names (TLDs) as of June 30, 2017.

The increase of around 1.3 million globally registered domain names marked a growth of 0.4 percent compared to the first quarter of 2017. The number of domain name registrations has grown by 6.7 million, or 2.1 percent year on year.

TLDs using .com and .net grew in aggregate in the second quarter of 2017, with both accounting for approximately 144.3 million domain names registered in the domain name base. This represents a growth of 0.8 percent year on year.

As of June 30, 2017, registered domain name .com reached 129.2 million names, while registered .net-based domain names reached 15.1 million names. During the second quarter of 2017, there were 9.2 million total registered .com and .net domain names. In the second quarter of 2016, there were 8.6 million total new domain names .com and .net listed.
