Pertamina: The Management of the Mahakam Block is Very Challenging

INDUSTRY.co.id - Balikpapan - SKK Oil and Gas has officially handed the Mahakam Work Area Management in East Kalimantan to Pertamina. This submission was done symbolically several hours before the turn of 2017 in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. With this switch, the operator of Mahakam Block will be operated by PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam.

Upstream Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Syamsu Alam conveyed that the management of the Mahakam Block is very challenging both in its operating conditions and in its field cycles that have been categorized as mature fields.

"It becomes a challenge for us to be able to operate the Mahakam well," said Syamsu.

Syamsu said the main assets of the Mahakam Working Area are human resources and Pertamina insists it will maintain the assets. "Together with our friends we will prove that this Mahakam Block still contributes to Indonesia," he said.

Syamsu also requested Total E & P Indonesie Indonesia workers who will join PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam to maintain high safety and security standards as they are currently running.

The Mahakam block is still one of the largest gas producers in Indonesia. Currently there are 695 wells producing in this working area. At the end of December 2017, Mahakam Block production was 1,286 MMSCFD for gas and 51,800 BOPD for condensate.
