TNI Commander Confirms Neutrality in 2018 Election

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The TNI upholds the mandate of the constitution by being neutral in the face of the implementation of elections in conjunction in 2018.

TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said that at the MPR / DPR / DPD Building, Jakarta, responding to the proposal of Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, who proposed high ranking TNI and Police officers to become acting governors.

"The TNI will be neutral, based on the constitution, in the TNI Law stipulating that the TNI should be neutral, impartial," said Hadi Tjahjanto, Monday (29/1/2018)

Hadi asserted, at the meeting of the TNI and Police leadership before, he had asserted that the TNI would be neutral.

Even if there is a proposal from the Government, through the Minister of Home Affairs, to appoint a high-ranking TNI officer to be acting regional head, the TNI Commander asserts, the TNI's attitude will remain in compliance with the law.

Earlier, Minister of Home Affairs, Tjahjo Kumolo, to the media crew said the government would propose high-ranking police officers and TNI to become acting governor to fill vacancies in some areas that are considered vulnerable.

According to Tjahjo, through his press release on Friday (26/1) / 2018), the proposal of senior TNI and Police officers to become acting governor has been in consultation with National Police Chief, Commander of TNI, to President.

"The proposed appointment of high-ranking TNI and Polri officers with consideration of security vulnerability will be placed in areas prone to conflict on the election," he said.
