President Jokowi Revitalizes 1,000 Gadang Houses

INDUSTRY.co.id - Padang - President Joko Widodo proclaimed the total revitalization of 1,000 rumah gadang area in South Solok Regency in West Sumatera Province.

"Later this revitalization is also a prototype for rumah gadang in West Sumatra, especially in all corners of the country," said the President in his speech during the National Press Day at Lake Cimpago, Padang on Friday (9/1/2018).

According to the President, the government is expected to complete the construction in 2018.

President explained that he assesses the natural condition in Paringan Village; Tanah Datar Regency is very beautiful and has potential for tourism industry.

"All I have to do besides those in South Solok, in this village that this morning to be completed this year, Landscape, restoration of existing houses, so that will add to the existing house in South Solok and Paringan earlier," said President.

The head of state also told of his admiration for the gadang house when he first saw the building in South Solok in 1983.

"So I remember very well when riding Kerinci, through Solok Selatan, my admiration for the house tradition, the traditional house is very beautiful and beautiful," said Jokowi.

The President has visited the Most Beautiful Village in Tanah Datar on Friday morning.

Furthermore, the President conducted a Friday prayer at Masjid Raya Sumatera Barat before making a visit to State University of Padang to stay in touch with the academics.
