April 2018, Mitsubishi Will Export Prime Xpander to Southeast Asia Region

INDUSTRY.co.id -Jakarta, Mitsubishi Motor Corporation (MMC) will soon start the first export of Mitsubishi Xpander vehicles produced in Indonesia in April 2018.
Mitsubishi Osamu Masuko Chief Executive Office said high demand for Mitsubishi Xpander in the country made the target of delivering vehicles to the export market of the company pending.
"The first target of the beginning of the year, but domestic demand peaked so delayed until April 2018," said Osamu at the Office of the Ministry of Industry, Jakarta (26/2/2018).
He added that the delivery of Mitsubishi Xpander first phase will begin for Southeast Asian countries. "The new Xpander MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) which is produced in Indonesia and will be exported to the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam," he explained.
After that, the new export will be directed to the whole world. The reason, Mitsubishi Xpander is currently only in production in Indonesia with a capacity of 60 thousand units per year.
The factory which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo was built with an investment value of 565 million US $ or equivalent Rp7, 6 trillion in Cikarang, West Java.
As for the export market, the company targets Xpander sales to reach 20 thousand in 2018.
According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), Expander production in January 2018 reached 8,141 units. Of the total production, the whole is absorbed by the domestic market.
