INDUSTRY.co.id - Kudus - Entering the ongoing rice harvest, and to support the absorption of grain / rice farmers by Bulog, the Head of the Food Security Agency (BKP), the Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Hendriadi conducted farmers absorption safari (Sergap) to Demak, Kudus and Grobogan Central Java province, Wednesday (28/2/2018).
"The effort to absorb farmers' grain is very important for Bulog to fill the government's food reserves," Agung said as he initiated and witnessed the agreement on the purchase of grain farmers by Bulog, attended by representatives of Bulog, TNI (Dandim), BRI and the Head of Food Security Agency of Central Java province.
"The Bulog line must immediately absorb the farmers' grain, and this momentum should be put to good use, as long as the harvest is high, so the price will not fall," Agung added.
"Moreover, Bulog has been given the flexibility to buy grain with 20% HPP flexibility," added Agung.
Still said Agung, Absorption of farmers' grain is also done to help farmers obtain a favorable price, so that farmers are motivated in running their business.
"Poor farmers if they continue to lose money, they are real food heroes, because they produce and produce food," said Agung.
Central Java as one of the second national rice contributor after East Java has a target of upland rice absorption by bulog of 453,500 tons.
Some efforts by the Central Java government to achieve the target include already mapping areas that will harvest, coordinate and execute direct purchases in the field together with Bulog, TNI and BRI.
"If this is done continuously together, we believe that the target of grain absorption for Central Java will be achieved," said Suryo.
From visits to Demak, Kudus and Grobogan districts, there are still dry harvest (gkp) of Rp.4.400, - / kg. Even in Grobogan district there is still medium rice that is sold at Rp. 8,200, - / kg in milling.
This should be immediately purchased by Bulog to fill the government's rice reserves, because if it is too late the price will rise.

"We are glad the government came and made direct purchases in the field, because the price is profitable," Faqih said
