Second Quarter 2018, Labor Absorption is Expected to Rise

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) expects employment to be better in the second quarter of 2018. The forecast is based on a business survey of large and medium-sized companies.
Executive Director of the Head of BI Statistics Department, Yati Kurniati, said the improvement of labor users is mainly sustained by the agricultural sector. In the first three months of the year, there is usually the production of foodstuffs that require labor.
"The labor force in the quarter of 1-2018 is rising in the agricultural sector that covers informal and non-formal workers.In the first quarter, the harvest season is one of the driving force of labor, this is the second-quarter estimation factor," he said in Jakarta on Thursday (12 / 4/2018).
In addition to the agricultural sector, he continued the textile industry also improved because they produce products for the preparation of Eid. Including the distribution sector is increasing due to the transportation of food and textile products.
He admitted that the increase in production that requires additional labor driven business cycle approaching Eid. At that moment, demand is rising and production is boosted and definitely requires manpower.
"This is what the workforce says is increasing, actually the baseball cycle has changed from last year but there are improvements that drive the improvement of the business world," he said.
