INDUSTRY.co.id - Semarang - The role of women in the world of outdoor activities may have long incised achievements in Indonesia. Starting from wall climbers and cliffs, up to seven summiteers, always record a record from Indonesian women.
However, for the ordinary people, the awareness of the essence of an adventure in the wild is still lacking. The importance of prioritizing safety and maintaining the environment is always at a loss with ego and self-interest.
To educate the public particularly women, EIGER, through EIGER Adventure Service Team (EAST), held Women Adventure Camp (WAC) 2018 aimed at women who love outdoor activities. The event, held on 20-22 April 2018, took place at Mount Ungaran, Semarang regency, Central Java.
Recorded 80 women consisting of students, students, employees, civil servants, entrepreneurs, teachers to housewives participated in this activity.
With the spirit of Kartini Day which falls on April 21st, this event becomes so meaningful because it is closely related to the increasing interest of women in outside activities, as well as a means of education for Indonesian women adventurers.
"Outdoor activities by women are increasing everywhere. This event provides an alternative education-based, or adventure-based education to them to be safe and comfortable in their activities, "explained Galih Donikara, as Chairman of EIGER Adventure Service Team (EAST).
The selection of Mount Ungaran was also chosen because it was in accordance with the content of the material given to the participants. Besides the location is easy to reach, Ungaran Mountain area is also managed very well.
"The facilities are very complete to learn and practice. Starting from the camping ground, the path, up to the peak atmosphere," added Galih Donikara who is familiarly called Kang Galih this.
The participants who started the activities from the meeting point at EIGER Adventure Store Tembalang, Semarang City, went together to base camp Mawar on Mount Ungaran by using the vehicles already provided by the committee on Friday (20/4/2018).
There the participants got information about the latest EIGER Woman Series products, one of which was Walton Mid Cut Hiking Shoes released on that day.
Climbing to the summit of Mount Ungaran held Saturday (21/4). The climbing path through the participants is complete ranging from plantations, forests and rocks. Divided into 3 posts, the climbing route is a gentle and leafy road. Only from heading 3 to a fairly steep peak with the smell of moss, as well as slippery solid ground.
On the last day, Sunday (22/4/2018), the participants attended the commemoration ceremony of Kartini Day in the morning, and invited to plant trees in Ungaran Gunung Planting Area as a form of concern for the environment.
On the sidelines of the three-day event, the participants also received various briefings in the form of Travel Health Material (presented by Dr. Darmawaty Ayu I., M.Si.Med from Maladica FK Undip), Travel Planning (performed by Abex), Preparation Expedition (by Jessica Katharina), Inspiration & Motivation Expedition with the theme 7 Peak 2 Pole 7 Pillar Education (by Putri Handayani), Zero Waste "Climb Mountain without Waste" (by Siska Nirmala), and Journalism of Nature Open (by Marti Karina PS from National Geographic Indonesia).
"Our hope through this activity, the participants can develop into independent women in outdoor activities because of the provision of science and friendship of this WAC event. Not only for himself, but also for others and the environment," Kang Galih closed.
