INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) Sinar Mas continues to strengthen integrated fire management strategy and Village Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA) program. This is done in an effort to prevent forest and land fires (karhutla) in the concession area of ​​raw materials supplier APP Sinar Mas.

In addition, APP Sinar Mas also initiated the Village Makmur Peduli Api (DMPA) program, which is an effort of community empowerment combined with the conservation of nature and the surrounding environment.

Through this program, communities are directed to manage agroforestry by cultivating horticultural crops (vegetables and fruits), food crops, livestock, fisheries, and processed food for self-consumption or sale.

APP Sinar Mas facilitates this from upstream to downstream, ranging from the provision of tools, seeds, assistance, to help market the product. The program is targeted to 500 villages by 2020 around and within the concession area of ​​APP Sinar Mas suppliers by channeling revolving funds worth US $ 10 million.

Head of Corporate Social and Security APP Sinar Mas Agung Wiyono explained, DMPA program which was first initiated at the end of 2015 has now reached 191 villages spread across Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, East Kalimantan, and West Kalimantan. As of March 2018, beneficiaries of the DMPA program have reached 13,814 Family Heads.
