Government Supports the Revitalization of the People's Market in Bali

INDUSTRY.co.id - Denpasar - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs realize that physical development does not provide guarantee and certainty in keeping the people's market in the long run, so that appropriate breakthroughs are needed, with institutional strengthening and human resource development of market managers and traders.
This was stated by Deputy Assistant of Marketing Ir Herustiati and Assistant Deputy of Infrastructure and Assistant of Facilities and Production Marketing, Berry Fauzi representing the Deputy of Production and Marketing of I Wayan Dipta at a press conference at Banjar Market Nagari, Denpasar, Saturday (30/6/2018) and received by Head of Market I Nyoman Suparta.
Herustiati said the program of market revitalization of people and the arrangement of business facilities of street vendors (PKL) throughout Indonesia, especially in Bali Province can increase the sale and purchase transactions that originally only become weekly into daily markets.
According to him, the program of people market revitalization and structuring of business facilities PKL area received appreciation from KUMKM actors, reminded that the program is considered to have improved and improved economic facilities that are in harmony with efforts of equity, development and expanding employment opportunities.
It was confirmed by I Nyoman Suparta that the support of market revitalization fund and the management of people's market governance had a positive impact on the development of Banjar Nagari Market which is currently filled by 56 traders of kiosk owners and 40 stalls from seasonal merchants.
"The market condition is getting better after the revitalization, as well as the governance although there are obstacles, especially the grant from the local government which becomes the burden of the market manager," said I Nyoman Suparta.
Berry Fauzi added that people's market revitalization and governance management are expected to change the stigma about the slum, muddy and unattractive market of the people capable of being transformed into a market full of charm, attractiveness, and provide a place worth selling for traders, and worth shopping for buyers.
On various occasions, I Wayan Dipta affirmed the commitment of Cooperate and SMEs minister to provide a stimulus of physical development of the people's market through the pattern of task assistance.
Berry added that the community market management cooperative fully supported by traders in it is able to realize the people's market that really becomes the choice of people to shop in the midst of modern markets.
Herustiasti added the framed people market development policy in three stages. In the early stages are given the stimulation of physical development through the pattern of task assistance with the hope of more participatory area. The second stage is the improvement of professionalism through management assistance.
In the third stage, various institutional strengthening and capacity enhancement efforts are being made so that in the future, the community market management cooperative will be able to realize a modern and independent market.
In order to maintain the existence and increase the market potential of the people and the area of street vendors as a driver of the community's economy in the region, since 2003-2017 has built 78 market units spread over 383 districts / cities.
