INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC), an in-town data centre provider with interconnectivity and integrated digital systems, inaugurated its 5 MW Tier IV data centre facility, JST1 (Jakarta Selatan Timur), located in East Jakarta.

The inauguration of JST1 proves BDDC's high commitment in providing digital infrastructure services to local and global industry players, to support the progress and improve the quality of digital technology in Indonesia.

JST1 is the second data centre inaugurated by BDDC in the last two years following JBT1 (Jakarta Barat Tangerang) located in West Jakarta.

The President Commissioner of BDDC, Setyanto Hantoro, explained that JST1 as an interconnectivity centre is supported by neutral operators with more than 100 network service providers and various routes.

The facility is also supported by direct connectivity to Indonesia Internet Exchange (IIX), Open-IX (OIXP), and other internet exchanges nationally and globally.

“The presence of JST1 will support better performance and lower latency for the data centre needs of various businesses in Indonesia, because the proximity to end-users results in more secure connectivity, with high network transmission. Besides, JST1 is also supported by a reliable and experienced team to support digital progress in Indonesia,” Setyanto clarified.

The results of the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia - APJII) Survey in 2024 showed that the number of internet users in Indonesia reached 79.5% or more than 221 million people from a total population of 278 million.

The positive trend of internet penetration also opens up opportunities for growth in the sustainable development of digital infrastructure in Indonesia, one of which is the need for data centres.

In an effort to expand data centre capacity, Setyanto explained, that BDDC is committed to scalability with two current data centre locations, consisting of JBT Site (Jakarta Barat Tangerang) and JST Site (Jakarta Selatan Timur) that meet the requirements of business production and disaster recovery centre (DRC), point of presence or availability zone, and supported by various routes between JBT and JST.

“Going forward, BDDC plans to expand capacity to 32 MW at the JST location and 30 MW at the JBT location. This expansion is expected to encourage interconnectivity to meet the needs of edge data centre services for various business sectors and business scales in the country and abroad for daily operations,” said Setyanto.

The President Director of Bersama Digital Data Centres (BDDC), Angelo Syailendra, revealed that with the inauguration of JST 1, BDDC is increasingly ready to contribute directly in providing safe and efficient in-town data centre services, as an effort to support the acceleration and improve the quality of digital infrastructure.

"The JST1 facility was specifically developed and designed as a high performance and scalable data centre, ensuring reliable interconnectivity. We are confident that JST1 can fulfil the digital infrastructure needs of today's industries,” said Angelo.

The timely completion of the construction and inauguration of JST1 is BDDC's commitment to meet customers' needs for high-security data centres. As is known, data security is an important issue in digitalisation.

JST1 is a Tier IV standard data centre facility that can accommodate 1,008 racks in 8 floors of data rooms, and dual power sources as a comprehensive solution in one BDDC platform, to support storage needs with reliable operational quality, as well as data exchange with low latency and high performance.

BDDC's commitment to strengthening digital transformation in Indonesia is fully supported by its controlling shareholders, Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia (BDIA), which consists of Provident Capital (Provident), PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk. (Saratoga), and Macquarie Asset Management.

Meanwhile, BDDC has four main advantages in its role to encourage the development of digital technology, namely Interconnectivity, Scalability, Reliability, and Sustainability.
