INDUSTRY.co.id - Bali - Scientific publications, mainly at the international level, are an important indicator of the progress and quality of education in a country. This underlies the focus of PT Bank HSBC Indonesia and Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF) through Sampoerna University (SU) in initiatives that support the improvement of research and publication quality in Indonesia, particularly in finance and banking.

This time, HSBC Indonesia and PSF through SU support the implementation of international conference on finance, banking and financial stability involving Journal of Financial Stability and University of Sebelas Maret (UNS), Journal of Financial Stability is one of the leading scientific journals in finance and banking.

The conference was held in Bali on 17-19 July 2018 where Indonesian academics from various regions and international academics from various countries will gather, present and discuss financial and banking research results which will be published internationally.

HSBC Indonesia Head of Corporate Sustainability, Nuni Sutyoko, explains, "Since 2015, we together with PSF and SU have initiated a banking literacy and education program, which we believe is one of the foundations to maintain financial stability in Indonesia by reaching out to the public and the civitas community academics in various regions of Indonesia. "Nuni continued" This year, the program focuses on the facilitation of academic exchange of knowledge across countries and regions on the global financial and banking industry, one of them through support for this international conference. "

Based on data from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenristekdikti), up to July 2017 the number of Indonesian international scientific publications indexed globally rose significantly to 9,349 documents from 4,084 documents in 2016. The position exceeds other ASEAN countries such as Thailand. Despite the continuous improvement, the quality of education through research and international publications should continue to be encouraged so that Indonesia can compete with other developed countries such as the United States and Britain. Therefore, the government through Kemenristekdikti proclaimed the increase of the target of the international scientific publications of Indonesia in the year 2019 reached more than 30,000 publications.

Wahyoe Soedarmono, Project Manager of HSBC-PSF Cooperation Program and an economist from Sampoerna University, "In this rapidly growing global era, quality education has a key role in shaping future generations that are ready to compete. One indicator of scientific and technological progress of a country is the number of research results that are published and utilized. Through the scientific research, the researchers are expected to be able to provide solutions to the problems and challenges facing today's industries, so that Indonesia can compete in global level. "

Journal of Financial Stability is also present as a partner in organizing this international conference. The Journal of Financial Stability is here to facilitate researchers for their scientific work in finance, banking, intermediation and financial stability to be published in reputable international journals. Prof. Iftekhar Hasan, Managing Editor of the Journal of Financial Stability says, "Research and academic publications play an important role as the foundation of the economic and financial policy making of a country. On this occasion, we see a lot of interesting research and publication from Indonesian researchers, who are able to answer Indonesia's financial stability challenges and provide new insights and insights for cross-country researchers present at today's conference. "

In addition, Halim Alamsyah, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) expressed his appreciation for the holding of this international conference.”Research is one of the important pillars in stabilization policy making and economic growth, especially in the midst of dynamic global conditions. I hope this conference will expand the opportunity for Indonesian financial sector researchers to exchange new knowledge, ideas and insights with researchers from other countries, so as to support policy makers and industry practitioners in maintaining financial system stability in the country, "added Halim.
