Islamic boarding schools should be economic drivers

INDUSTRY.co.id - Brebes- Candidates for Indonesian Vice President Kiai Ma'ruf Amin said that Islamic Boarding School should be the driving force of sharia economy in Indonesia and at the same time the economic center of the nation.
"I emphasize that Islamic Boarding School explore Islamic economics whose concepts are found in the books of classical jurisprudence which have been studied by Islamic Boarding School," said Kiai Ma'ruf Amin at the "Halaqah Entrepreneur Economic Independence of the 7th Islamic Boarding School and Haul KH. Masruri Abd Mughni in Ponpes Al Hikmah Bendo Brebes Regency, Tuesday (11/09/2018).
According to him, the Islamic economy has become a national economic system which is marked by the emergence of Islamic banking and the national Islamic finance committee (KNKS) chaired by President Jokowi.
"Therefore I hope the Islamic Boarding School is able to explore and contextualize these concepts in the contemporary economy," said Ma'ruf Amin who is also the caretaker of the An Nawawi Tanara Serang Islamic Boarding School.
Ma'ruf Amin encouraged the participants that the santri had shown evidence that they could play a role in the public sector as shown by several kiai who had served as ministers, regional heads, even the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
