INDUSTRY.co.id - The machine products produced by seven Indonesian business entities participating in the Equipment and Manufacturing West Africa (EMWA) trade fair in Lagos, Nigeria, are in high demand.

The event, which took place on 27-29 April, is an international trade fair that showcases West Africa’s largest manufacturing equipment and machinery products. The international scale exhibition was held offline for the first time since March 2020. At the exhibition, the products of Indonesian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) managed to record a potential purchase of up to US$ 705,000.

The participation of the seven Indonesian business entities was carried out online and was facilitated by Ministry of Trade through the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Lagos.

The seven companies consist of four SME entities, namely Cahaya Agro Teknik (agricultural product processing machines), Plasindo Bhama Prasasta (agricultural sprayer equipment), Teikin Pistons (vehicle spare parts equipment), Kreasi Mustika (lighting equipment) and three companies namely SANCO Indonesia (a manufacturer of processed food machines such as biscuits & wafers), the Packaging Integra Center (a packaging machine manufacturer), and Sanwel Austindo (a smart drain equipment manufacturer).

Director General of National Export Development of Ministry of Trade, Kasan, said that the participation of the SMEs in this international event is part of measures to penetrate the global market.

In line with Kasan, Head of the ITPC Lagos Hendro said that Indonesia’s participation in EMWA 2021 is an effort to promote Indonesian products abroad in order to boost national export performance amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the meantime, Indonesian business entities who actively served prospective buyers online at the exhibition said that they were surprised by the enthusiasm of the visitors to the EMWA exhibition.

“Even though we were present online, we did not expect that the interest of visitors to find quality products and machines from Indonesia will remain high so that we could get the potential to export our products to West Africa, especially Nigeria,” Director of Cahaya Agro Teknik Randa Rakawuri said.

The visitors to the ITPC Lagos booth at this exhibition were not only from Nigeria, but also from Benin, Ghana, and Kenya. During the EMWA 2021, 1,635 visitors have attended in person even though the city government has limited the number of visitors to the exhibition per day to 500 people. As for online visitors, there were 450 viewers on social media of YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
