INDUSTRY.co.id - Free COVID-19 vaccination program under Gotong Royong scheme has been able to attract considerable number of companies. To date, 22,736 companies with more than 10 million workers are registered as participants of the program, according to Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.

Gotong Royong vaccination scheme was initiated by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and a number of business players in last January so the country will immediately reach herd immunity. The scheme has received positive response from various sides such as the Government, ministers, and business sector.

“As it is implemented, there will be more companies applying for the scheme. I predict the number will increase significantly in the near future,” Rosan said when accompanying President Jokowi observed the first rollout of COVID-19 vaccines under Gotong Royong scheme for employees of 19 companies, on Tuesday (18/6) at a factory belonging to PT Unilever Indonesia, in Jababeka Industrial Estate in Bekasi, West Java.

He went on to say that some business players expressed hope that the vaccine will not only be rolled out to their workers and families but also to people living near the companies. They also expected the rollout can be speeded up since vaccination will greatly contribute to people’s health and national economic recovery.

In the meantime, President Director of PT Unilever Indonesia Ira Noviarti said that participation of the company in Gotong Royong vaccination is to make the Government’s free vaccination program a success, speed up the effort to reach herd immunity, protect the people from COVID-19, and recover the national economy.

She added that her side also disseminated information and educated the employees and their families to participate in the free vaccination program.

“We are very pleased with the high level of participation in the vaccination. Today, we started with 320 employees. We will carry on the program until we vaccinate 10,000 employees and families,” she said.
