President Jokowi Inspects Hajj Dormitory Readiness for Handling COVID-19 Patients

INDUSTRY.co.id - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, on Monday (5/7), inspected the readiness of the Hajj Dormitory in Pondok Gede, East Jakarta. The inspection is carried out in order to anticipate the rising needs for hospital beds to isolate and treat COVID-19 patients.
“This evening, I together with Minister of Health and also Minister of Public Works and Public Housing inspect the readiness of the Hajj Dormitory in Pondok Gede to become a hospital for handling COVID-19 in anticipation of a surge in the COVID-19 spread in Jakarta and its surroundings,” President Jokowi told the press after the inspection.
The Government has prepared 900 beds plus 50 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 40 High Care Unit (HCU) in the hajj dormitory, the President said, adding that those facilities have been prepared by Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.
“I have ordered to complete it within two days, so later on Thursday (7/7) we hope it can be used and is ready for operation,” the President added.
For the record, apart from the hajj dormitory, the Government has also prepared the Nagrak low-cost apartment in Cilincing with 2,273 beds and the Pasar Rumput low-cost apartment with 3,986 beds for isolation facilities. The Government has also added 1,200 more beds at the Wisma Atlet emergency hospital to increase the capacity in the event of a spike.
