President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo
INDUSTRY co.id - Meanwhile in the fisheries sector, such as tuna, skipjack and tuna, the President said that Indonesia was the number one exporter of these commodities. Unfortunately, on the other hand, Indonesia is also the number one importer of fish meal. Therefore, the President requested that the fish meal product be produced domestically.
"Funny, we have pushed it out, then we will import it again in the form of fish meal. Can't we turn this downstream, industrialize our fish into fish meal? How hard is it, how hard is it? No , if we can't afford it, then hold a partner. I always say take a partner, partner, don't hesitate to get in there," he said.
The President again gave the PRC example as the number two importer of tuna, skipjack and fresh cob, able to become a producer of fish meal and become the number four exporter of fish meal. He also asked his staff to look at various other marine wealth potentials that could increase economic added value.
"Seaweed, tuna, cakalang, tuna, shrimp, this added value is very many times that of chitosan fertilizer, 27 times the added value. The crab became crab meat 3.2 times. If everything is disbursed domestically, it will jump to our country. Our GDP will jump, our GDP will jump," he added.
For this reason, the President requested that the OJK be able to provide support and play a role in the success of the downstream program for various commodities because this downstream program has high added value for the Indonesian economy.
"Once again I ask for support from the OJK regarding this. How to socialize the importance of downstream. Because the projected downstream impact from minerba, oil and gas and maritime affairs can reach USD 715 billion (billion) and 9.6 million jobs can be built,” he concluded.
