President Jokowi and Chairman Zhao Leji Appreciate Increased Indonesia-PRC Cooperation

INDUSTRY co.idIndonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a bilateral meeting with Chairman of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Zhao Leji on Wednesday (18/10/2023), at the Great Hall of The People, Beijing. 

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 3rd High Level Conference (KTT) of the Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation.

In his remarks, Chairman Zhao Leji expressed his appreciation for the increased cooperation between Indonesia and China. Chairman Zhao Leji said that the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Jokowi had succeeded in continuing the belt and road initiative and the vision of the world's maritime axis.

"Mutually beneficial cooperation has resulted in fairly balanced progress and has served as a role model for enhancing regional cooperation," said Chairman Zhao Leji.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between the Indonesian and Chinese parliaments which has gone well. President Jokowi also said that Indonesia and China agreed to continue to increase cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

"And of course this requires support from parliament," said the President.

President Jokowi also hopes that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and China that has been running for 10 years can continue to be maintained. This is important to maintain good relations between the two countries.

"Indonesia and China's comprehensive strategic partnership is 10 years old and we must continue to maintain this to strengthen relations between the two countries," said President Jokowi.

Also accompanying the President at the meeting were Minister of State-Owned Enterprises as Ad Interim Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Erick Thohir, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, and Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun. (BPMI SETPRES/AIT)
