Indonesia Showcases Innovations and Featured Products at High-Tech Expo in China as the Guest of Honour
INDUSTRY.co.id - Mianyang, China - Indonesia was chosen as the guest of honour at the 11th China (Mianyang) Science & Technology City International High-Tech Expo in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, China, held upon the invitation of the Mianyang City Government, Sichuan Province (November 22-26). With the exhibition theme "Lead by Science and Technology—Innovation, Transformation, Opening-up, and Cooperation," Indonesia was chosen as the guest country of honour to commemorate the 10-year comprehensive strategic cooperation between Indonesia and China and follow up on the outcomes of the meeting between President Jokowi and President Xi Jinping in Chengdu last July.
"Through the Indonesian pavilion, the Chinese community can witness the achievements of innovation in the fields of science and technology in Indonesia. There are five priorities that Indonesia aims to focus on in the field of science and technology, namely green economy, maritime economy, digital economy, health, as well as tourism and the creative economy," said Ambassador Djauhari during the pavilion opening.
In addition to the field of science and technology, expo visitors can also enjoy Indonesian popular food and beverage export products that have entered the Chinese market at the Indonesia Shopping Festival Pavilion. These include swiftlet bird nests, coffee, wafers, biscuits, coconut milk, coconut water, and more
Aside from showcasing flagship export products, the Indonesian pavilion also promotes Indonesian culture. During the pavilion's opening event, the performance of the Enggang dance was presented by the Yingde Rainbow Thousand Island Dance Studio which was warmly welcomed by pavilion visitors.
On this occasion, the Indonesian Ambassador also officially opened the 11th China (Mianyang) Science & Technology City International High-Tech Expo alongside the Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the Vice Minister of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, the Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, and the Secretary-General of the CPC Sichuan Province.
Later in the day, the Indonesian delegation led by the Minister of Health of Indonesia, Mr. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, held bilateral meetings with Mr. Cao Lijun, Member of the CPC Sichuan Province Committee, and the Secretary-General of CPC Mianyang City. The potential for cooperation between Indonesia and China, especially in Sichuan, in the field of science and technology was discussed during this meeting.
According to Minister Budi, to continue stable and sustainable economic growth, Indonesia is pursuing six agendas expected to collaborate with Sichuan, namely industrialization, interconnection, digitalization, decarbonization (energy transition), economic distribution, and education.
In addition to showcasing achievements in the field of science and technology and flagship export products, Indonesia also exhibited photos of the natural beauty and culture of Indonesia in the Indonesia Nature and Cultural Photography Exhibition held at the Mianyang Museum from November 21, 2023, to February 21, 2024.
There are a total of 80 photographs showcasing the natural beauty and culture of Indonesia, particularly Bali and five super-priority destinations in Indonesia, namely Lake Toba, Borobudur, Likupang, Mandalika, and Labuan Bajo. In the tourism sector, based on data from BPS until September 2023, the number of tourists from China visiting Indonesia reached 556,535 tourists. This has exceeded the target set for 2023 of 365,000 Chinese tourists, making Chinese tourists the fourth-highest in terms of the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia after Malaysia, Australia, and Singapore.
Meanwhile, in the field of trade and investment, China is Indonesia's largest trading partner. In January-September 2023, based on China Customs data, the total trade value between the two countries reached USD 103.21 billion. Meanwhile, Chinese investment in Indonesia during the same period, according to the Ministry of Investment of Indonesia/BKPM release, reached USD 5.6 billion.
