Socialization of the Results of Services Trade Negotiations
INDUSTRY.co.id - Deputy Minister of Trade, Jerry Sambuaga was the speaker at the Socialization of the Results of Services Trade Negotiations which took place at the Sutan Raja Hotel, Kotamubagu, North Sulawesi, Thursday (30 Nov).
Deputy Minister of Trade Jerry explained that in an effort to increase international trade cooperation, Indonesia ensures the expansion of market access in the goods and services sector. In 2022, the service sector will contribute 55% to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Thus, for Indonesia, the service sector also has an important role in the national economy.
Furthermore, the Deputy Minister of Trade explained that geographically, North Sulawesi Province is a hub/gateway in the Asia to Pacific region. This is an advantage that North Sulawesi, especially Kotamobagu, can take advantage of to strengthen service market access in the region.
In accordance with the slogan "Kotamobagu City of Services", the service sector has a very important role in the economy of this city. BPS data shows that around 85% of Kotamobagu's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2022 will be contributed by the services sector. Several service sectors have the potential to be highlighted, such as wholesale retail trade services, car and motorbike repairs; construction service; and health services and social activities.
Thus, cooperation is needed to maximize the potential of the large service sector in Kotamobagu so that it can reach wider foreign markets. It is believed that existing international trade agreements can make it easier for business actors, including service providers, to expand their business to partner countries.
This activity, which was organized by the Directorate of Trade and Services Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, was attended by 100 participants consisting of business actors and representatives of relevant regional agencies. Also present at this activity was the Director of Services Trade Negotiations, Basaria Tiara L. Gaol and the Head of the Kotamobagu Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Service, Ariono Potabuga.
