Jababeka Industrial Estate (KIJA) Wins Green PROPER Award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry for Two Consecutive Years

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- PT Jababeka Tbk, through one of its subsidiaries PT Jababeka Infrastruktur as the manager of the Jababeka Industrial Estate, has again been awarded the 2024 Green Corporate Performance Assessment in Environmental Management (PROPER) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).

With the achievement of this year’s Green PROPER, PT Jababeka Infrastruktur has managed to maintain this achievement for two consecutive years. Previously, in 2023, PT Jababeka Infrastruktur also won the same award.

The Green PROPER award was received directly by the Director of PT Jababeka Infrastruktur, Vega Violetta. The presentation of this year’s PROPER award was given by the Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiqdi at the Sasono Langen Budoyo Building, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Monday (24/2).

Responding to this achievement, Vega Violetta as the Director of PT Jababeka Infrastruktur, felt proud and moved because the Green PROPER award is one of the benchmarks and appreciation for Jababeka’s efforts in implementing sustainability principles in industrial estates.

Where Jababeka itself currently has a long-term target to be able to apply the principles of the eco-industrial park in the development of environmentally friendly regional infrastructure as well as the implementation of operational governance and the implementation of activities in the area in accordance with environmentally friendly industrial principles

Vega Violetta admitted that she is optimistic that by implementing a circular economy through the initiation of industrial symbiosis and the implementation of supporting infrastructure for integrated waste management through collaboration with the public sector, Jababeka can bring Jababeka to achieve Gold PROPER in the coming year.

The PROPER is a program owned by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in the supervision of the industry which aims to encourage industry compliance with environmental regulations. However, PROPER is not a replacement for conventional compliance instruments that have been running, but rather a complement and synergy with other compliance instruments. So that efforts to improve environmental quality can be carried out more efficiently and effectively.

There are several types of assessments in PROPER ranging from Black, Red, Blue, Green, to Gold. Green PROPER is given to businesses and activities that have carried out environmental management beyond the requirements of regulations (beyond compliance), such as implementing environmental management systems and utilizing resources efficiently, and carrying out social responsibilities well. Meanwhile, if the environmental management carried out is only in accordance with the requirements, the award given is Blue PROPER.
