INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) will propose to President Joko Widodo to issue a ban on the sale of diesel and gasoline-fueled vehicles in 2040. This is an attempt to accelerate the development and use of electric vehicles.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignatius Jonan said the electric vehicle program should be able to advance for future generations, for the environment and for better business, energy independence, and to save foreign exchange. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources which accelerates the utilization of electric vehicles with stakeholders such as observers, associations and ministries will also propose exemption of import duty and PPn BM for electric vehicles (Completely Knock Down / CKD).
To support this, PT PLN (Persero) is also ready to be assigned to build a General Electricity Filling Station (SPLU) as PT Pertamina (Persero) is assigned by the government to build gas station. "Although PLN will be working with the private sector, but the brand remains SPLU PLN, such as Pertamina gas stations," said Jonan.
The government will also begin to develop vehicles made from electrical energy through the creation of a national electric vehicle industry ecosystem with domestic fabrication, attention to local content, the grand design of the national electric car industry, the preparation of supporting infrastructure "Market creation and expansion, as well as tax incentives firmly, "He concluded.
