8.9 Million People Use Domestic Air Transport Throughout July 2017

INDUSTRY.co.id - Jakarta- Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said that the number of domestic air transport passengers in July 2017 reached 8.9 million people, up 27.89 percent compared to the previous month. While the number of passenger destinations abroad (international) rose 10.56 percent to 1.5 million people.

"During January-July 2017, the number of domestic passengers reached 50.5 million people or rose 10.75 percent, and the number of international passengers reached 9.5 million people, up 14.15 percent over the same period in 2016," said Head BPS , K. Suhariyanto, to the media crew, at BPS Head Office, Jakarta, Monday (4/9/2017).

According to Suhariyanto, the increase in the number of air transport passengers occurred at Juanda-Surabaya Airport of 64.81 percent, Hasanudin-Makassar 48.07 percent, Ngurah Rai-Denpasar 39.28 percent, Kualanamu-Medan 36.90 percent, and Soekarno Hatta 17, 99 percent.

"The largest number of domestic passengers through Soekarno Hatta-Jakarta reached 2.1 million people or 23.65 percent of the total domestic passengers, followed by Juanda-Surabaya 889.5 thousand people or 9.97 percent," said Suhariyanto.

Overall, the head of BPS said, the number of domestic air passengers throughout January-July 2017 reached 50.5 million people, up 10.75 percent compared to the same period last year of 45.6 million people.

"The largest number of passengers recorded at Soekarno Hatta-Jakarta reached 12.4 million people or reached 24.67 percent of the total domestic passengers, followed by Juanda-Surabata of 4.5 million people or 8.91 percent," said Suhariyanto.

Abroad

Regarding the number of air transport passengers abroad or international, Head of BPS K. Suhariyanto argued, in July 2017 reached 1.5 million people or rose 10.56 percent compared to June 2017.

The increase mainly occurred in Hasanudin-Makassar Airport reached 75.68 percent, Juanda-Surabaya 45.24 percent, Ngurah Rai-Denpasar 14.28 percent, and Soekarno Hatta-Jakarta 0.59 percent.

"The largest number of international passengers through Soekarno Hatta-Jakarta reached 581.2 thousand people or 39.32 percent of total passengers abroad, followed by Ngurah Rai-Denpasar 565.9 thousand people or 38.29 percent," said Suhariyanto.

According to the Head of BPS, the number of air transport passengers abroad during January-July 2017, both using national and foreign flights reached 9.5 million people, up 14.15 percent compared with the same period last year 2016.

"The largest number of passengers overseas through Soekarno Hatta-Jakarta reached 4.2 million people or 43.85 percent, followed by Ngurah Rai-Denpasar reaching 3.3 million people or 34.57 percent of all passenger flights abroad," said Suhariyanto
